Hello, everyone!
Global Bridge Network is
now going to report on activity ‘Parent Session’ for girls’ Menstrual Hygiene
Management.
We apologize this delay of
report on this activity which was conducted on April, 13th
2017.
Session participants: Parents of pupils from primary 1 to 7 at Lwawuna Primary
School in Mubende district in Uganda participated
in the session with 61 Male: and 39 Female
Why we conducted session
for parents!?
This was because, in all projects that deal with pupils; there is
need to get consent from parents/guardians and getting their cooperation is
important.
Many parents think it is a
government and school responsibility to provide sanitary pads and talking
menstruation is taboo in their custom. Furthermore, some parents still believe
in the myths associated with menstruation myth, such as ‘not eating salt while
in their periods, not moving with boys during their menstruation’ etc …..
Session objective included:
● Informing parents about the
ongoing project and requesting them for their
unconditional support and
cooperation.
● Discussing with parents
their roles and responsibilities in promotion of MHM
(Menstrual Hygiene
Management) among adolescent girls.
● To find possible strategies towards addressing
menstrual challenges adolescent
girls face both at school and home.
